Back To Basics
Have you ever found yourself down a path of life lost? A little off track, okay way off the trail from which you started. Everything seemed right; we prayed for God's direction and took off. Before we know it our will took over our good intentions and then the inevitable happened. The first thing we ignore is the Lord warning us of the bend in the road; remember what Jesus said in Matthew 7:13-14. We are to stay on the straight path, all the way. We are so easily deceived and mislead by the devil and fall prey to him and his nonsense. So what should we do? Read the article ...
Buddy and the Birds
Have you ever wondered why you just don't feel the presence of the Lord when you pray or try to have fellowship in the Spirit? Scripture always has the answer, Matthew 5:23 & 24 helps, but we don't always acknowledge the things that get in the way of our ''perfect'' relationship with our Lord. So with that in mind, I want to share with you my humble experience with Buddy and the Birds. Read more ...
Dare To Go In
The veil has been broken -- have you entered in? Read EXODUS 26:31-37. Moses is explaining the building of the Tabernacle in the Old Testament and refers to the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place. Verses 33 and 34 tell us that there was a veil that divided these two rooms. The priests would enter into the Holy Place to perform their service for God. Once a year, the High Priest would enter the Most Holy Place to intercede for the sins of himself and the Children of Israel. Read more ...
Deepening the Well of Love
Many years ago, my sister and I hit a ceiling in our relationship. She had gone through a lot in her life at that point – sickness and loss of everything including her house, money and husband. She, as any good sister (blood and in Christ), just kept asking me to pray for her as she walked through this difficult part of her life. These circumstances seemed to always be present in her life, and I was getting tired of bearing her burdens and lifting her up in prayer. Read more ...
Desperate
The word means without hope, despondent; we have all felt it, granted for many different reasons. For some it is for love, acceptance, power, control. Many other empty and mistrusted emotions come to my mind. I never gave much thought to this unil I heard a song that Michael W. Smith did years ago called "BREATHE." He sings about being desperate for GOD, WOW what a concept. Read more ...
Forgiveness
I love oxymorons. You know, words or phrases that contradict themselves. One such phrase is "nonstop flights." There's really no such thing, because every plane has to stop! Or how about the phrase "absolutely unsure." How can you be absolute if you are unsure? Adult children – HUH??? Forgiveness might just be the greatest oxymoron of all time. Come on now, let's be honest. We all love to be forgiven for the things that we have done wrong. But … are we as quick to forgive others as we want to be forgiven? Matthew 5:23-24 is very clear. Haters
They're all around us -- you know the people that are always complaining: so and so doesn't deserve that job or good fortune shouldn't be theirs. It's an age old problem. Let's look at the Sixth chapter in the book of Daniel. The king at this time is Darius and he had set up 120 Princes to rule over His kingdom. Daniel was preferred above all the presidents and princes because "… an excellent spirit was in him" (vs. 3). Daniel was among the children of Israel taken captive from Jerusalem and taken to Babylon when King Nebuchadnezzar reigned many years earlier. Enter the ''haters.'' Read more ...
Help Me!
"Help!" was the number one song for three weeks in 1965. It soared to fame shortly after it was written by John Lennon and sung by the Beatles. A movie was also made and named after this song. I was a little kid when this song hit the scene. Society was embracing the new style of rock and roll and everything that went along with it – free sex, let it all hang out, and let it be were all themes from this era. The Sixties and Seventies brought a whole new perspective on how we as a people viewed things. Liberal freedoms stretched far beyond imagination. I can look back now and see the separation of man from GOD. However, along with all these new found liberties came the "morning after." Read more ...
Oh To Be Blessed!
I am not sure when the tradition of a father "blessing" his sons lost its way, but I haven't seen it happen in my lifetime. We can go back to when God the Father blessed his son, Abraham, in Genesis 22:15-18. There is a pattern that unfolds as we see Abraham bless his son Isaac in Genesis 25:5 and GOD Himself blesses Isaac in Genesis 25:11. It continues with Isaac blessing his sons, Esau and Jacob, in Genesis chapters 27 and 28. Again in Genesis 48 Jacob, now called Israel, blesses his son, Joseph, and his two sons. So we can clearly see that this was a tradition set forth by God Himself. Fathers were to bless their sons. Read more ...
Major, My Dog, My Angel
To this very day, I still don't fully understand how a dog could teach me obedience. I mean shouldn't it be the other way around? Well, in my case that's what happened. I will never forget that Saturday afternoon. A little puppy came wondering down the alley where we lived. The kids and I were so excited to meet this precious little "mixed with everything you could imagine" dog. He was perfect for my family. I decided that we would keep him safe in our yard until his owner came looking for him. We prayed so very hard that nobody would come looking for him. This was one of a few thousand answered prayers so far in my life time. For more of what Major did for me read this ...
What Easter Means to Me
To me, Easter is the time of year when we celebrate Jesus' transition from all that He was on this earth and through His death on the cross to all that He is after His resurrection. As I was thinking about this fact, a scripture came to mind that has always amazed me: "Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through Him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see – such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through Him and for Him. He existed before anything else, and He holds all creation together." Read more ...
